Dear Parents and Guardians,
My name is Greg Keith and it is with pride that I write this letter as your new Principal at Franklin Elementary School. I have been fortunate to have served for more than twenty-five years in both private and public schools here in Southeastern Connecticut as a classroom teacher and principal at the elementary and middle school levels. I have resided in Preston with my wife and children for the past twenty years. My son Evan is in grade 8 at Preston Plains, daughter Carsen is a senior at NFA, and son Tyler is a senior at UConn. My charge now will be to bring my experience as an educational leader and parent to Franklin Elementary School to strengthen the traditions and reputation of this wonderful school.
Please accept my invitation to contact or visit me at the school this summer. I have already had the pleasure to meet several families, students, and staff and appreciate the warm welcomes I have received. I will be working most days at FES over the summer to ensure the building is ready and we have a smooth transition into the school year. An organizational Welcome Back to School Letter will be sent in early August with relevant information to help students and families prepare for Opening Day. Please also check the school website at the beginning of August for current news and events, school celebrations, and the school calendar.
I am eager to begin what promises to be a fantastic year at FES! As a school community, we will be focusing on student-centered instruction, continued development and implementation of curriculum, Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-Mathematics (STEAM) and 21st Century academic programming, and community engagement. I am also interested in hearing your thoughts and ideas about how we can make FES an even better place to learn and grow.
I look forward to getting to know you and your children and helping each student at Franklin Elementary School have a successful school year.
With best regards,
Mr. Greg Keith
